A Culture of Purpose

Join a diverse, mission-driven team of clinicians, researchers, and public health professionals dedicated to achieving health equity in East Africa.

Demanding Work That Matters

Working at Future Health is not a comfortable office job. We operate in resource-constrained environments where the work is difficult and the stakes are real. It takes people who are both technically capable and genuinely committed to the communities they serve.

Whether you are a surgeon at the Ubuntu Medical Center, a data scientist analyzing disease patterns in Bujumbura, or a logistics coordinator keeping vaccine cold chains intact — the work you do directly affects people's lives.

Our Core Values in Action

Our values show up in decisions — not on a wall.

Decolonized Leadership

East African challenges are best solved by East African leaders. The majority of our executive and clinical leadership are local professionals with deep community knowledge.

Data-Driven Compassion

We measure everything we do. When evidence shows a program isn't working, we change it — quickly, without attachment to the original plan.

Radical Inclusion

We actively recruit from the marginalized communities we serve, including persons with disabilities, ensuring our staff reflects our patient base.

Professional Development

We invest in our staff's careers. Through the Future Health Institute, clinical staff earn continuing medical education (CME) credits, field coordinators receive management training, and researchers get opportunities to present at international global health conferences.

Our Community Health Workers have real advancement paths. Many of our current district health coordinators started as volunteer CHWs. Structured training and certification turn informal community roles into recognized healthcare careers.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion

Future Health is an equal opportunity employer. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, religion, gender identity, sexual orientation, age, or disability status.

Given the historical gender gap in East African healthcare leadership, we have targeted programs to support women. Over 60% of our clinical directors and senior researchers are women. Our facilities are fully accessible, and we provide accommodations for staff with disabilities.

Benefits and Compensation

People doing hard work deserve fair compensation. We pay competitive salaries benchmarked against regional NGO standards. Benefits include full health insurance for employees and immediate family, generous paid leave, maternity and paternity leave, and psychosocial support services to help frontline workers manage burnout.
