Catch Problems Before They Become Crises

The most cost-effective healthcare catches health problems before they become serious. Our screening and diagnostics programs identify risk early — so that intervention is simpler, cheaper, and more likely to succeed.

Our facilities are staffed by trained radiologists, pathologists, and technicians, and equipped to deliver accurate results across a wide range of conditions.

Cardiovascular & Chronic Disease Screening

Cardiovascular disease is a rising contributor to mortality in Burundi, fueled by urbanization and shifting dietary patterns. Our cardiovascular screening programs offer:

  • Echocardiograms and resting electrocardiograms (ECG)
  • Lipid profiles, fasting glucose, and HbA1c testing
  • Blood pressure surveillance and hypertension risk stratification
  • Body composition assessment and dietary risk counseling

Infectious Disease Screening

Infectious diseases remain the primary cause of morbidity in Burundi. Early detection transforms outcomes and reduces onward transmission:

  • HIV testing and counseling with immediate linkage to ART
  • Tuberculosis — GeneXpert molecular testing with drug-resistance profiling
  • Malaria rapid diagnostic tests (RDTs) during outreach visits
  • Hepatitis B surface antigen testing

Cancer Screening

Cervical cancer is the leading cancer killer among Burundian women. Our program delivers Visual Inspection with Acetic Acid (VIA) and VILI screening at Ubuntu Medical Center and via mobile outreach. Breast health assessment through clinical breast examination is offered alongside nutrition and lifestyle counseling.

Tiered Screening Packages

We offer three tiers tailored to different age groups, occupational risks, and family histories. Sliding-scale fees and integration with community health insurance (mutuelles de santé) make preventative screening accessible to people at all income levels.
